RHYTHMANIA takes place in the field of tension between imposed limitations and repeated attempts by exploring the genre-specific relation to beat and rhythm that can be seen in both folk dance and folk music. A performance where dance and music are constantly challenging each other, all the time on the edge, all the time close to losing balance.
RHYTHMANIA manifests the start of a new series of works, i.e RHYTHMANIA (2017/2019), SYNK (2018) and SOLITUDE (2019) which all, in different ways, explores somatic perception and kinesthetic transference through beat, rhythm and groove.
“Within light and blocks she lifts, balances, jumps. Movements are born, fall away, and are lost in slow transformation. She demolishes structures and begins again. It is powerful.”
“Rhythmania offers a rare combination of participation and inclusion while also allowing the audience to partake in an elevated creative work. /…/ made me leave with the rhythm of the dance in my body. I felt invigorated—an emotional state that is not easily achieved on an icy, dark February evening.”
